What Will I Learn?
KS3:
At KS3, students embrace a wide curriculum of skills based work (eg. voice, pantomime, use of suspense etc.) and the developing of Drama skills within the exploration of script or issues (eg. Nikki’s run away, The Crucible, Derek Bentley etc.).
KS4:
We follow the EdExcel GCSE syllabus, which rewards students for their work in class, as well for their performances and written work. Students explore various themes, ideas and scripts using a variety of explorative strategies and complete 2 pieces of practical course work, supported by 2 portfolios based on the practical work.
How Will I Be Assessed?
KS3:
You will be assessed on key drama skills throughout each unit.
KS4:
GCSE - You will be assessed on your participation in workshops, as well as on your performances. A written portfolio will also be assessed.
Are There Any Learning Opportunities Beyond The Classroom?
Drama club. Theatre visits. Public performances.
There is a Drama club for year 7, which begins in October. There is a pure drama production, which alternates between upper and lower school each year. There is an annual musical before or after Easter. There is a Gifted and Talented club for years 7 – 9 as well as one off specials such as stage combat, lighting and street theatre. There are approx. 6 theatre trips during the year.
Do I Need Any Special Equipment To Study This Subject?
A willingness to co-operate with others.
