What Is Citizenship? Citizenship is the study and understanding of how a society works, i.e. It’s government and laws etc. and the interactions of it’s peoples with problems and issues. The rights of people to vote, be educated, not be discriminated against and be listened to are studied alongside the development of an understanding of the responsibilities of both individuals and organisations regarding ALL people within societies and the world. The PSHCEE Element of the course looks at the development of the student in personal social and health areas, acquiring skills to manage the wide ranging changes in expectation from their parents/carers, school and society is an important part of the course. Set alongside this, such issues as bullying, self esteem, sex and relationships and education are tackled. The health risks of smoking, alcohol, drugs and solvent abuse and other areas of risk are dealt with to help you to understand and respond positively to the pressures and demands of the modern world.
